Excavator models for sale range from mini excavators that have operating weights of less than 1 ton (0.9 metric ton) to massive mining and quarrying models that can weigh more than 1,000 tons (907.2 metric tons). The majority of excavators are tracked crawlers, but you can also buy wheeled excavators, which can be driven on the road, move quickly around the job site, and typically provide greater mobility and maneuverability. Mini excavators are useful in tight, urban spaces, as well as in residential applications and landscaping.
